A Local Community Safety Partnership

Working together with the local Policing teams to help keep residents in our area safer

Partners: Local Humberside Police Neighbourhoods Teams

Community Safety has long been a thematic priority for Big Local North Cleethorpes. As well as supporting Neighbourhood Watch locally or other initiatives involved in community safety – such as Blue Lights Brigade or Trading Standards, it has also meant forming a strong working relationship with the local policing teams.

Two Neighbourhood Policing Teams cover the North Cleethorpes area – those for Sidney Sussex Ward and for Croft Baker ward.

Our LTO, VANEL, has had a long-term partnership with Humberside Police and with the Chief Officer at VANEL being a long-term member of the Community Safety Partnership (CSP). VANEL has engaged in community safety programmes for many years and this provided Big Local North Cleethorpes with an ideal opportunity to use these connections to support the North Cleethorpes area more specifically.

The members of the Neighbourhood Policing Teams have a tendency to change over the years, but since the community hub at 82 Grimsby Road opened, members of the Policing Teams are now regular visitors and partners with our work.

We’ve hosted Police drop-ins at 82 and continue to do so into 2025.

Police work with VANEL and Big Local on our household/personal safety equipment handouts and use 82 Grimsby Road as a pickup point for collecting equipment such as personal alarms or CCTV’s to hand out to residents that they have identified as at risk.

The Police have attended numerous events run by Big Local North Cleethorpes or in conjunction with local partners including Scams talks delivered by our Development Worker.
