Reacting to Covid, Big Local supported the development of a website to help promote local music talent
When? 2020. Website still in place 2025
Partners: Hammond House Publishing
One challenge arising during Covid lockdowns was that musicians and artists who relied on gigs and events for their income, were unable to work. Once restrictions were lifted, Big Local North Cleethorpes worked with Hammond House to find a way to help promote local Cleethorpes artists to those who might hire them for work.
A Book the Band website was created by Hammond House using funding from Big Local North Cleethorpes. The website listed many local signers and groups who needed to promote themselves and get themselves work again. Big Local funded a number of initial films showcasing each artist. At the outset there were probably around 8 artists (all local) promoted via the site.
The site worked and groups and signers were able to use it and their videos to help get gigs. In 2025 the website still exists (maintained by Hammond House) and thirty artists are profiled and showcase.
Some of these groups have gone on to greater success, which in a small part will have been helped by our website. Revivalry for instance now had a considerable success which you can see on their website https://revivalryband.com/
Ellis Wood, a Cleethorpes singer, had an initial video funded by Big Local and then went on to appear on ITV’s Starstruck programme. Read about Ellis on Book the Band here. Or watch the original YouTube video we funded here.
