Big Local has worked with partners to support local families across North Cleethorpes
When? 2014-2024
A key thematic area for the work of Big Local North Cleethorpes since the outset has been to support young people and families. Over the years those projects have taken many forms.
Issues such as Covid and the cost of living crisis have had further impacts on local households and families, so Big Local North Cleethorpes worked on a number of projects specifically aimed at supporting families.
The Holiday Home on Thorpe Park was purchased so that local families could have cost effective holidays that they might not have been able to afford otherwise.
When hardship grants became available in North East Lincolnshire via the Council, Big Local North Cleethorpes and partners like VANEL worked locally to identify households and families in need to distribute money or support to. These grants were supplemented by Big Local funds at times too.
We worked closely with Reynolds Family Hub to identify local families in need and if we were able we were then able to focus our support.
We provided many local families with new or refurbshed laptops or Chromebooks to help the children with homework when those families had little computer equipment to hand already.
Where we were able to provide activities and support directly to young people we believe this also relieved the burden on local families.
