When? investment 2022 and shredders still available 2025
Partners: VANEL. NELwatch. AGE UK Cleethorpes. Sidney Sussex Pavilion.
VANEL (Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire) had been managing a community shredders initiative across North East Lincolnshire for a few years. The initiative, originally funded through the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner made four community shredders available across the borough to help residents have a way to shred their important and confidential waste.
As part of our commitment to helping residents avoid scams and stay safe, Big Local North Cleethorpes invested in two additional shredders to be placed in North Cleethorpes.
The first is held at the Big Local offices at 82 Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes.
The second is at the AGE UK office/cafe in Cleethorpes.
One of the original shredders is still available the Sidney Sussex Pavilion in Sussex Rec.
Residents can continue to access these shredders during opening hours (and following the rules of the hosting organisation).
VANEL continues to manage the community shredders initiative through the NELwatch programme.

The shredder initiative sits within the wider KOPS (Keeping Older People Safe) programme and Scams/Fraud advice support that Big Local North Cleethorpes continued to provide up to 2024 and is continued from 2025 by VANEL.
