Big Local have worked with local partners to reach households in need during crisis and provide micro grants

Two major crises have hit out communities recently – Covid and the cost of living crisis. Nationwide hardship grants have been made available- through local authorities – so that small amounts of helpful funding could be made available to individuals and households in need.
Since 2020, Big Local North Cleethorpes has worked with the local authority and other partners such as VANEL to find local households in need in North Cleethorpes (usually through a referral process) and then to help distribute these small grants. The money often pays for something as essentially as paying bills, keeping the heat on or food on the table.
Big Local North Cleethorpes have invested small amounts of our own budget to this to match other grants available via the Council. In this way, dozens of local households have been able to be reached over the past few years.
