Installation of hanging baskets and planting on Issacs Hill roundabout to brighten up the area
When? 2022, 2023
Partners: North East Lincolnshire Council
Isaacs Hill roundabout is in a prominent position in the centre of the Big Local North Cleethorpes area of benefit. It sits on the boundary between Sidney Sussex and Croft Baker wards and is visible to most visitors coming into Cleethorpes via Grimsby.
So for a couple of years Big Local North Cleethorpes sponsored a display of Hanging Baskets to be put on the roundabout to brighten up the area (and at the same time to promote Big Local).
The work itself to put the bedding plants out and display them was thanks to the environmental team at North East Lincolnshire Council. In fact, unlike the bedding planters along North Promenade where volunteers were able to maintain them, we were not allowed to have volunteers tend the planters on an active roundabout. So the Council team did all the work for us.
The displays looked great, but after a couple of years we realised this was not a cost effective environmental project, so we stopped sponsoring the display. The palm trees along the prom returning year after year were a better investment, but we hope that we cheered a few visitors up during the Issacs Hill period…
