Big Local has worked with local Neighbourhood Watch Groups to directly support their community projects and has worked with VANEL to support new groups

There are a small number of Neighbourhood Watch Groups (NWGs) within the North Cleethorpes area, but a few of these are very active engaging with their residents and at times there have been opportunities for Big Local North Cleethorpes to directly support these NWG’s to reach their residents members.
Barcroft Street NWG was an active group in the early years of Big Local and were supported to tidy up the shared alleyway that their members used with plants, pots and tubs sponsored by Big Local. Street Planters were installed in Barcroft Street and Daubney Street funded by Big Local but only because those groups were able to connect directly with residents and households in their area and bring them together.
Daubney Street NWG has always been very active supporting the young people in their street, so via the Hangout Youth project, Big Local has funded some of the youth activities for Daubney Street over a couple of years.
Big Local North Cleethorpes has also been working in partnership with VANEL who have lead responsibility for Neighbourhood Watch for the whole of North East Lincolnshire. Through VANEL there has been additional support for the Neighbourhood Watch movement in the North Cleethorpes area. Whilst some groups have naturally closed down over the ten year period of Big Local, several other new groups have also managed to start up in our footprint.
Since 2020 Big Local has been very connected to the Community Safety agenda (Stay Safe guides; scams; community shredders; Police connectivity) and the local Neighbourhood Watch Groups have been a natural way to reach a good number of households and residents in one go. So Big Local has stayed connected to local groups as much as we can.
