Helping local residents keep the park safe by supporting their efforts to work together on the park<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sidney Park ParkWatch was started up in 2021 to bring residents together to ‘look after’ Sidney Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Park Watch works in a similar way to a Neighbourhood Watch scheme and encourages local residents who use the park to take a personal interest in its security and appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scheme aims to protect Sidney Park from vandalism, littering and anti-social behaviour whilst promoting a secure environment for all park visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scheme came about from the efforts of a couple of residents to litter pick and tend to the park. Big Local funded the production of some leaflets produced by VANEL – who look after Neighbourhood Watch more generally for the borough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VANEL and Big Local worked with residents for a year or more to help support the Park and connect the group to Ward Councillors and the Neighbourhood Policing Teams to make the park be a bit safer for park users.<\/p>\n\n\n

Eventually the Park Watch was superseded by a Sidney Park Partnership which did more than just condsider safety in the Park. The Partnership group was also about Social connectivity and events and there were many more efforts to support the Park and its users from different perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
