GRIP

Grimsby Retailers In Partnership (GRIP) is a local Business Crime Reduction Partnership. Working closely with the business community, Humberside Police and North East Lincolnshire Council, the organisation deals with issues of crime and disorder across Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

One of the approaches to this is to supply businesses with specialist radios so that a network of information and communication can be maintained between businesses, the Police and other agencies.

Alongside a DISC app, business gain the ability to support each other in tackling issues such as a shoplifting or abuse and other crimes.

Originally the GRIP radio scheme was Grimsby Top Town focused. But the scheme has subsequently expanded into Freeman Street areas of East Marsh and most recently, with the support of partners VANEL and Big Local North Cleethorpes, into Grimsby Road and into St Peter’s Avenue in Cleethorpes.

The Community Hub for Big Local North Cleethorpes at 82 Grimsby Road acts as a coordination base for scheme administration; handing out of equipment and as a drop-in for the local Policing team. Big Local North Cleethorpes also holds a radio at our premises so that we too are engaging with the radio network. Team members support the Council & Police to speak to local businesses and support the rollout of the radios.
