Keeping in touch with local residents, communicating and sharing our stories has been important throughout Big Local
When? 2013-2025
Big Local North Cleethorpes is resident led and we needed to keep in touch with our local community.
So from the very beginning, the Big Local partnership meetings have been accessible to local residents to attend. Meetings have always been regular – generally weekly. They were initially held at Sidney Sussex Pavilion and then for many years at the Cleethorpe Community Fire Station, before finally moving to the new community hub at 82 Grimsby Road from 2019.
Each session has at least some time open for residents to visit, hear what we’re up to and contribute. Even during covid, when out meetings were online instead of face to face, we had a one hour time slot when anyone could pop online.
In fact, over the years some of the people who have attended meetings have ended up being on the committee!
As well as the general dialogue, Big Local North Cleethorpes has tried to ensure residents are kept informed of our progress and how they can get involved or ask for support
Since around 2016 there has been a website maintained to share programme information.
A Facebook page for Big Local has existed since 2018 and has been very active since around 2022.
Printed newsletters were started after covid and around seven newsletters have covered and shared our work and have been distributed around the community since 2020.
Monthly progress reports on Big Local’s work have been prepared by the LTO (VANEL) since around 2020 and each of these have been publicly shared via the website.
Our community hub at 82 Grimsby Road is always an open and welcoming space. Since we reopened in 2020 after covid, there is an open invitation to anyone to drop in and chat about Big Local and their community.
CleeTV was created in 2018 and since then a range of films have been produced – many of which are specifically there to keep people up to date on what Big Local is up to.
And of course we connect with many community groups and organisations and services that cover the North Cleethorpes area. In this way we can talk through them to their own members or connections and spread the messages from Big Local.
